July 22, 2022 at 2:51 PMRejectedKickballClass of 202507/22/202208/01/2022We want to host a kickball on August 1st after classes for a LECOM Welcome Week. There are other events that are planned for that week that Nevin told me he sent in a request for. The event would start around 530 and end by 7pm. The main goal of this event is to have a fun event where MS1s and MS2s can interact. I already emailed Brian King and he mentioned that the field is available to use as long as it gets approved. As far as Covid protocol, because the entirety of the event is outside there should be no need for any masking or social distancing.
September 29, 2021 at 2:36 PMApprovedSAAO OPP FridaysSAAO09/29/202110/29/2021We plan to continue OPP Fridays every Friday from October 29th to December 10th (with the exception of during Thanksgiving break) beginning as soon as class ends for the first and second years. Last time, there were only 35 students, so I would expect a maximum of 50 students to attend, meaning that we will have plenty of space in the OPP lab to ensure social distancing precautions are maintained. The topics over the following weeks that we intend to discuss include acupuncture again as well as how to find key lesions, strain patterns, and determining lymph flow/how to treat lymph flowing in the wrong direction. They will each last 1-2 hours.

September 14, 2022 at 8:22 PMApprovedHow to get into Radiology: Speaker EventRadiology Club09/14/202210/11/2022We have invited three speakers to talk about their experience in pursuing a career in radiology. All three are LECOM alumni/students: Kent Axcell (current MS4 and former radiology club president), Dr. Henry Wei (current resident at AHN), and Dr. Olivia Hallas (current resident at Cleveland Clinic). The goal is to have the speakers talk about why radiology may or may not be a good fit for you, and how to prepare for rotations and residency. Since the speakers have gone through the residency application process fairly recently, it should be a good opportunity to learn about what to expect from a first-hand account. The event will be over zoom and last no more than one hour.
January 20, 2025 at 11:35 PMApprovedPediatrics Club Volunteer Event: Mckeen Elementary Science FairPediatrics Club01/20/202502/21/2025We have an upcoming Volunteer opportunity at the McKeen Elementary science fair where Peds Club members can work with the elementary students at one of the educational tables we will have set up there. We will have an educational coloring station, a nutrition/healthy eating instruction station, an operation board game station, a stethoscope and ophthalmoscope trial station, and a station with mini white coats where the kids can get their picture taken by a parent. This is an event that occurs with the Peds club every year made possible by Dr Cole-Jeffry, through which she has close relations with the PTA at Mckeen elementary and approves it with them each year. We will be able to take approximately 10 students aside from the old and new E boards for the club that are required to participate. We will select participants on a first come first serve basis, as we are limited in the number of jobs we have available for students.

I am in contact with Jaime Babiak (Director of Operations) and she says there is a need for about 150 pairs of reading glasses across their various facilities. The glasses can be ordered off of Amazon and will cost around $300 total. We would promote the fundraiser using social media, and students, faculty, and other members of the community would be able to donate directly. July 17, 2023 at 1:45 PMRejectedOncology Club FairOncology Club07/17/202308/05/2023We are working with Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) which is a non-profit organization that raises funds towards pediatric oncology research. We plan to host a Lemonade Stand at the Club Fair, promoting not only our club but ALSF and their volunteer opportunities that are available for the students. Our President, James Nordstrom had been in contact with the SGA president and had gotten approval to put our table outside of the Wellness Center. We will be selling our Lemonade for $2 with all proceeds going directly to ALSF. To prevent spills/excessive trash, we can give the drinks to students that are leaving the Wellness Center rather than entering in. We will have napkins, wipes, garbage bags for cleaning up any spills and having a place for all the trash. The entire team will be present during the Club Fair and will be helping out distributing the drinks.

March 1, 2023 at 3:53 PMApprovedSAAO Cookies and Cheesecake fundraiserSAAO03/01/202303/01/2023We are requesting to hold a cookie dough and cheesecake sale from Stanganellis, a local family-owned business. This fundraiser aims to raise money to reduce the out-of-pocket expense for students who want to attend Convocation next year (2024). The cookie dough will be offered in 5 different flavors, and the cheesecake will be offered in 3 different flavors. Information will be collected through an excel sheet that will be sent out in the email announcement. Once the order has been placed and paid for. Stanganellis needs about 14 days to process the order. The order will be delivered to me, and then myself and one more board member of SAAO will set up a pick-up place in the LECOM cafeteria or Voora lounge. Once the dates become more apparent, students will be told what day to expect their order and how long we will be in the cafeteria for them to pick up the cookies and cheesecake. My contact at Stanganellis is Evelyn Swinarski. Her email is evelyn@stanganellis.com. Our COVID mitigation plan: Students who are handing out the orders will wear a mask, and students picking up their orders will also wear masks. The food will be packaged individually, so there is no issue with contamination.
