She will do activities with the students and discuss techniques for managing emotions during a stressful time. We would like to use part of our budget to offer students a gift card for lunch if they participate in this workshop. This would be to help take the place of the student breakfasts that were previously offered to students but have not been due to the pandemic. We also recognize that this request is not greater than 30 days prior to the event, but we will not need any LECOM spaces to host the event and the speaker has agreed to present on this date so we are hopeful that we can get this event approved and give students this opportunity to work on stress management techniques going forward.February 23, 2022 at 4:16 PMApprovedQ&A with Dr. Brian WebsterInternal Medicine Club02/23/202203/14/2022We will be hosting Dr. Brian Webster, MD for a Q/A session via zoom on Monday, March 14th at 5:30PM. Each month will feature a different theme (such as Fall, Winter, New Year, Spring, Hobbies, etc.), and participants can write letters or short notes related to that theme. The letters won’t be addressed to a specific person—instead, they’ll be shared for anyone at the senior center to read or pick up, and we’ll receive letters in return for students to enjoy as well. This ongoing exchange will be a fun and meaningful way to build intergenerational connections and spread kindness throughout the year.March 25, 2025 at 8:57 PMApprovedSpring Glasses DriveENT_Ophthalmology03/25/202505/12/2025We will be collecting prescription glasses and reading glasses to donate to the Sight Center of Northwest PA. The Sight Center of Northwest PA sorts through the glasses and will decide which ones to keep for people in the community, then they also outsource the rest of the glasses to other organizations such as Lions Club international and others. I am in contact with Pam Masi from the Sight Center. Her email is pamm@sightcenternwpa.org. We will empty the bin at the end of each day to ensure that it does not get full. The intention is also to have students earn service hours for donating (the usual 1 hour for 2 items, maximum of 2 hours able to be earned). After the week of collection, we would deliver all the donated glasses to the Sight Center. Dr. Chris Buzas is the advisor for the club, however, he is not an option under the "advisor information" drop down menu. I have submitted a support request for this. Dr. Lincoln completed an AOA approved family medicine residency at Wilson Memorial Hospital in Johnson City, NY, and practiced in family medicine for 5 years, she then retrained into a surgical subspecialty field in wound care, which she has been doing for almost 11 years; she is currently the only board certified family physician in the Department of Surgery at Guthrie Medical Group at Sayre, PA. Dr. Lincoln currently serves on the board of POFPS and also holds a degree in Masters of Healthcare Administration.October 5, 2022 at 7:25 PMCancelledErie Otters NightClass of 202510/05/202211/05/2022We want to use our class funds to buy tickets for the Nov 5th otters game. The purpose of this event is to allow for a break from our studies and facilitate a mental health break for our students. Additionally, this would help enhance the camaraderie of the class of 2025 as we head into our final semester of didactic learning. Details: I was thinking 30 tickets based upon a current ongoing poll within the class (could be less). Once the results of the poll is finalized later this week, I will have a set interest of the number of students interested in tickets. The prospective date is Nov 5th at 7 pm. I have spoken with an Otters representative and he said: "Our ticket prices are $14 center ice, $12 west end or $10 east end." If we reserve 30 tickets the cheapest option would be $300 with the most expensive being $420. CARP plan: as this is an event during the (hopefully) low covid incidence rate in erie county, we would not have a specific COVID plan in place. However, each student will be sitting in a designated section surrounded by other lecom students to ensure that the spread of any potential diseases can be limited. Additionally, we will have an exact list of students that attended the event in case there is a need to contact them afterwards. Again, this would be an excellent way for LECOM students to get out and enjoy the many great events that Erie has to offer while also serving as a mental health escape for a few hours!May 5, 2019 at 11:15 PMRejectedT-shirt fundraiserFamily Medicine Club05/05/201905/20/2019We want to sell a t-shirt with the updated design below.April 28, 2019 at 11:11 PMApprovedLapel pin fundraiserFamily Medicine Club04/28/201905/13/2019We want to sell a gold femur lapel pin, and a neuron lapel pin. We will order 17 sheet pizzas from Skipperino's (18 slices/pie) which comes to $324 + tip. This includes 6 pepperoni, 8 cheese, and 3 veggie pizzas. We will provide the plates, napkins, and spatulas. We’ll also buy cookies from Sam’s club. It is $75 total, 3 boxes of assorted cookies (60/box). The complete total is about $430. We will pick up the food and distribute it in the Vora lounge, cafeteria, and case room with at least one member of the class board handling distribution at each location. We will notify Dupree and maintenance about the event to coordinate a smooth execution and clean up. Dr. S. Esper will be able to supervise the event since Dr. Thielman is unavailable. July 22, 2022 at 2:51 PMRejectedKickballClass of 202507/22/202208/01/2022We want to host a kickball on August 1st after classes for a LECOM Welcome Week. There are other events that are planned for that week that Nevin told me he sent in a request for. The event would start around 530 and end by 7pm. The main goal of this event is to have a fun event where MS1s and MS2s can interact. I already emailed Brian King and he mentioned that the field is available to use as long as it gets approved. As far as Covid protocol, because the entirety of the event is outside there should be no need for any masking or social distancing.September 29, 2021 at 2:36 PMApprovedSAAO OPP FridaysSAAO09/29/202110/29/2021We plan to continue OPP Fridays every Friday from October 29th to December 10th (with the exception of during Thanksgiving break) beginning as soon as class ends for the first and second years. Last time, there were only 35 students, so I would expect a maximum of 50 students to attend, meaning that we will have plenty of space in the OPP lab to ensure social distancing precautions are maintained. The topics over the following weeks that we intend to discuss include acupuncture again as well as how to find key lesions, strain patterns, and determining lymph flow/how to treat lymph flowing in the wrong direction. They will each last 1-2 hours.April 12, 2022 at 5:43 PMRejectedT shirt saleSAAO04/12/202205/02/2022We have T shirts that we would like to sell to our members and the LECOM community. This is a fundraiser for the SAAO club. We were planning on selling them in the cafeteria during lunch in May.
