We are going to be raising money for Active Minds in the month of September. Active Minds is a charity that raises money to help with suicide prevention. We decided to do it during the month of September since it is suicide prevention month. We have decided to give the top 5 participants $10 gift cards. We are also going to send out a form for the people who are interested in participating, and then on the first day of the event we are going to send out the team name for everyone to join and then start walking, running, or biking. Everything is done on the app called Charity Miles, and the money is sent to the charity directly through the app. The participants will just make an account, join our team, and then work out on their own to raise money for the charity.December 26, 2018 at 11:41 AMApprovedScript Your Future at Glenwood YMCAChristian Medical and Dental Association12/26/201802/10/2019CMDA members will work with LECOM Christian Pharmacists Fellowship International (CPFI) to educate patrons of the Glenwood YMCA about the risks of hypertension and ways to reduce the risk of getting it; including handouts on smoking cessation and diabetes. As smoking is a major contributing factor, smoking cessation education will also be provided.September 4, 2023 at 7:08 PMApprovedVolunteering at Men's Day Retreat 2023Christian Medical and Dental Association09/04/202309/30/2023CMDA members are planning to volunteer at Acts 2:42 Bible Fellowship for their men’s retreat on Saturday, 09/30/2023. In our collaboration, we would like to ask students for donation items and supplies to give to EUMA's program funds to assist those who are homeless. They require different items for everyday use, welcome home kits, and for the Rainbow Connection Thrift Store. These everyday items include, twin size sheet sets, pillowcases, twin-size comforters & blankets, new bath towels, washcloths, laundry detergent, deodorant, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, Clorox wipes, pillows, diapers, children's clothing, cleaning products, swifters, and especially toilet paper and large kitchen bags. For the "Welcome Home Kit" for those moving from homeless to a home, we would ask for shower curtains & rings, bath mat/rugs, bath towels, small trash can, mop, bucket, broom, dust pan, tall kitchen trash can, kitchen towels, pot holders, dish rack, drying mat, pots, pans, measuring cups/spoons, colander, cooking utensils, small kitchen rug, coffee maker, toaster, cups, plates, silverware, glass wear, and bowls. For the Rainbow Connection Thrift store we will request dressers, sofa, love seat, microwave, toaster, lamp, TV, and an End table. CMDA will be overseeing the donations from April 23-May 1, 2024 and delivering these items to EUMA on 28 West 9th Street, Erie, PA 16502. We will have a bin in the front lobby where students can place their donations in. We will monitor this through a Google spreadsheet where students can sign up for what they would like to donate. Charity Miles is an app that you download on your phone, which raises money as you walk, run, or bike. The more miles you do, the more money is raised for Wounded Warrior Project. We are also going to send out a form for the people who are interested in participating, and then on the first day of the event we are going to send out the team name for everyone to join and then start walking, running, or biking. Everything is done on the app called Charity Miles, and the money is sent to the charity directly through the app. The participants will just make an account, join our team, and then work out on their own to raise money for the charity. This event will be done entirely on the participants' own time and can be joined from any location, so no COVID mitigation protocols are necessary.March 11, 2019 at 12:55 PMApprovedAndrew SallavantiFamily Medicine Club03/11/201904/03/2019Club meeting for 4/3/19 to discuss volunteer opportunities and future events.July 20, 2021 at 7:55 PMApprovedInternal Medicine Clothing SaleInternal Medicine Club07/20/202108/01/2021Clothing Sale running from August 1st-August 14th. I believe this event offers a valuable opportunity for our club members to come together in support of the greater Erie community. It also serves to raise awareness and educate the public about Huntington’s disease, a complex neurodegenerative condition that we’ve heavily focused upon in our neuroanatomy courses. Through what we’ve learned, we’ve deepened our understanding of the challenges faced not only by patients, but by their families as well. Through this event, we hope to extend our support to those in the Erie community and show that they’re not alone in their efforts. The fundraiser walk will take place on Saturday September 27, 2025 and will be located at Presque Isle State Park, Beach 1. Volunteers will help with set-up, basket raffles, registration, advocacy efforts, cheering on walk/run participants, and clean up. The volunteering period will span from 6:30AM to 12PM, with each volunteer working a minimum of 2 hour shifts.August 19, 2025 at 4:46 PMRejectedHuntington's Disease Society of America TeamHope Walk/5K RunNeuropsych Club08/19/202509/27/2025Beth Gustafson, Assistant Professor of the Physical Therapy Program at Gannon University and Huntington's Disease Society of America (HDSA) TeamHope walk co-coordinator, recently inquired if LECOM’s NeuroPsych Club could provide volunteer support for the yearly HDSA Team Hope Walk & 5K Run fundraiser event.
