They will earn more points the further they go and the amount of days they are active. They can also earn points if they make a facebook post and tag our club on facebook. This is an individual, socially distanced, and completely virtual competition. We will hold a raffle for some running gear at the end using online software to fairly determine the winners based off the number of points they earned. The spreadsheet is based off the honor system and we will max out points for miles at 20 to prevent excess time devoted and those that run a lot. Students who participate will be encouraged to be active but in a socially distanced manner, and there is no event where students are meeting in person.September 11, 2023 at 6:23 PMApprovedAPAMSA Annual Diwali EventAPAMSA09/11/202310/20/2023We will be painting diya's (clay lamps) and lighting them together. She will do activities with the students and discuss techniques for managing emotions during a stressful time. We would like to use part of our budget to offer students a gift card for lunch if they participate in this workshop. This would be to help take the place of the student breakfasts that were previously offered to students but have not been due to the pandemic. We also recognize that this request is not greater than 30 days prior to the event, but we will not need any LECOM spaces to host the event and the speaker has agreed to present on this date so we are hopeful that we can get this event approved and give students this opportunity to work on stress management techniques going forward.February 23, 2022 at 4:16 PMApprovedQ&A with Dr. Brian WebsterInternal Medicine Club02/23/202203/14/2022We will be hosting Dr. Brian Webster, MD for a Q/A session via zoom on Monday, March 14th at 5:30PM. Each month will feature a different theme (such as Fall, Winter, New Year, Spring, Hobbies, etc.), and participants can write letters or short notes related to that theme. The letters won’t be addressed to a specific person—instead, they’ll be shared for anyone at the senior center to read or pick up, and we’ll receive letters in return for students to enjoy as well. This ongoing exchange will be a fun and meaningful way to build intergenerational connections and spread kindness throughout the year.March 25, 2025 at 8:57 PMApprovedSpring Glasses DriveENT_Ophthalmology03/25/202505/12/2025We will be collecting prescription glasses and reading glasses to donate to the Sight Center of Northwest PA. The Sight Center of Northwest PA sorts through the glasses and will decide which ones to keep for people in the community, then they also outsource the rest of the glasses to other organizations such as Lions Club international and others. I am in contact with Pam Masi from the Sight Center. Her email is pamm@sightcenternwpa.org. We will empty the bin at the end of each day to ensure that it does not get full. The intention is also to have students earn service hours for donating (the usual 1 hour for 2 items, maximum of 2 hours able to be earned). After the week of collection, we would deliver all the donated glasses to the Sight Center. Dr. Chris Buzas is the advisor for the club, however, he is not an option under the "advisor information" drop down menu. I have submitted a support request for this.
