	March 12, 2025 at 10:12 AM	Approved	BLS Certification	Emergency Medicine	03/12/2025	04/12/2025	We would like to give our members the opportunity to participate in a Basic Life Support (BLS) Training Course run by Dr. Risavi and other certified instructors. This event will be held on Saturday, April 12, from 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM and will provide students with both skills practice and skills testing required for BLS certification. The American Heart Association (AHA) BLS Course is designed to equip healthcare providers with the essential skills needed to recognize and respond to life-threatening emergencies. Training will cover high-quality CPR for adults, children, and infants, the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED), effective ventilations with a barrier device, relief of choking in responsive and unresponsive victims, and the importance of early recognition and intervention in cardiac arrest situations. Following the hands-on practice session, students will complete the skills testing component necessary for certification. Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive their AHA BLS Provider e-card certification via email. All necessary equipment for training will be provided by Dr. Risavi. An excel sign-up sheet will be available for students to register, with a maximum of 25 participants allowed. Students will adhere to current LECOM COVID regulations throughout the event. This is an excellent opportunity to develop life-saving skills, interact with fellow students, and gain an essential certification for clinical rotations and future medical practice. We encourage all interested students to sign up and take advantage of this valuable training experience!
	March 14, 2023 at 3:17 PM	Approved	Actors for Mass Casualty Drill	Emergency Medicine	03/14/2023	03/29/2023	We would like to give our members the opportunity to participate as actors in a mock Mass casualty Drill hosted by the Saint Vincent Residency program. This drill will be multi-disciplinary and multi-agency involving physicians, RN staff, pre-hospital responders, administration, radiology, and many more healthcare professionals. It will give our members the chance to interact with healthcare providers within the community and help improve mass casualty response within these agencies. A sign-up sheet will be provided for students to participate in shifts and masks will be worn to adhere to COVID Regulations. Since this event is helping with educational training, we will offer volunteer hours for participant’s time. This event will be held on March 29th at Emergycare (ECI) 1926 Peach St, Erie from 0700-1700.
	August 9, 2023 at 1:21 PM	Approved	Guest Speaker- Dr. Queen from Cleveland Clinic	Emergency Medicine	08/09/2023	10/20/2023	We would like to give our members the opportunity to hear from Dr. John Queen from Cleveland Clinic in Ohio. Dr. Queen specializes in Emergency Medicine & Internal medicine. He would like to come to talk to EM Club members about navigating emergency medicine and answer any questions students may have. Dr. Queen will present to us about ultrasound techniques frequently used in the Emergency Department, followed by a short interactive activity for students to participate in. It will give our members the chance to interact with a healthcare provider within the community and understand ultrasound as a skill. All equipment for the interactive ultrasound activity will be provided by Dr. Queen. We will also have Dr. Risavi present to teach students about tourniquets and offer practice with obtaining blood pressure. The EM Club and Dr. Risavi will provide the tourniquets and blood pressure cuffs. Students will bring their own stethoscopes. A sign-up sheet will be provided for students to participate, and students will be asked to fill out COVID screening forms to adhere to COVID Regulations. Our Club Advisor, Dr. Risavi, has approved of the event and will be in attendance. This event will be held on Friday October 20th at the Kearsarge Fire Department from 1700-2100.

Dr. Pauline Phung would like to come to talk to EM club members about Emergency Medicine as a career and answer any questions students may have. Dr. Phung will present to us about the field of Emergency Medicine, followed by a short interactive activity for students to participate in. It will give our members the chance to interact with healthcare providers within the community and understand the skills that residents in these programs are learning. All equipment for the interactive activity will be provided by the St. Elizabeth Boardman Residency program. We anticipate an activity for intubation, bleeding control, splinting, etc. A sign-up sheet will be provided for students to participate, and masks will be worn to adhere to COVID Regulations. Our Club Advisor, Dr. Risavi, has approved of the event and will be in attendance. This event will be held on Friday September 8th at the Kearsarge Fire Department from 1800-2100.

This event will be held on a Saturday afternoon. At the event, students will have the opportunity to participate and interact with others through friendly volleyball matches. While volleyball is being played, the Spanish Medical Club will provide a courtside activity where students can practice labeling common anatomical features in Spanish. All equipment for the interactive activity and volleyball will be provided by the three participating clubs. An email with an Excel sign-up sheet will be sent to Spanish Medical Club, Research Club, and Family Medicine Club members, with a maximum of 30 students allowed to sign up. Students will adhere to all current regulations set by LECOM. Our club advisor, Dr. Labranche, has approved of the event and will be in attendance. This event will be held on Saturday, April 18th, from 2 pm to 5 pm at Beach 6 at Presque Isle State Park.

Iftaar is the meal with which we break our fast at sunset, and this event will provide an opportunity for AMMSA members to come together, take a mental break from studying, and share a meaningful meal in a supportive community setting. To facilitate this event, we kindly request to reserve the East Hall and one classroom, as discussed with Dr. Shabloski. We will be catering food from Shawarma King (1042 W 26th St, Erie, PA 16508), and AMMSA board members will personally handle food pickup and delivery. Additionally, all cleanup responsibilities will be handled by our board members. We will bring extra trash bags and ensure the space is left in the same condition as we found it. The Class of 2024 Board has agreed to cover 20% of the cost while SGA is able to give the rest. The students would also receive an embossed LECOM Yeti mug. For the Class of 2025, SGA solely would like to gift the incoming students LECOM embossed Yeti mugs along with LECOM decal stickers and engraved frames where students can display their white coat pictures at home.
