We will be selling waterproof ‘survival bags’ which will contain items such as an emergency blanket, cold pack, whistle, bandages, flashlight, etc. This bag will make a nice gift for student’s family members to keep on hand for daily emergencies, it will also be great for students to keep in their cars to be better prepared for everyday life. Our club advisor, Dr. Risavi, is on board with the event and we will be using the updated and approved LECOM logo. Since this is an online sale, all correspondence will be done over email via a spreadsheet. We will do marketing via social media to promote the sale and masks will be worn on the day of distribution in concordance with the school’s COVID mitigation plan. The sale will take place from August 7th – September 7th 2023 over email. Each bag will cost 50 dollars and Distribution will occur in the Fall. We will use the Vora Lounge to distribute orders after all have been placed & fulfilled.

October 16, 2023 at 2:02 PMRejectedBingo & Raffle at KFDEmergency Medicine10/16/202311/28/2023We would like to host a Bingo night with food, prizes and fun at Kearsarge Fire Department. EM Club E-board members will run the event, picking and calling out numbers, checking winner’s cards, and passing out prizes. Prizes will include tourniquets, gift cards, duffle bags, penlights, T-shirts, etc. these will all be purchased by EM Club. We will also have a free raffle for all those who attend to enter! We will be raffling off one of our EM Club Waterproof ‘Survival Bags’ which we sold earlier this year as a fundraiser for our club. This kit has the approved LECOM logo on it and contains items such as an emergency blanket, cold pack, whistle, bandages, flashlight, tourniquet, etc. Food and drinks will be provided at the event, provided by EM Club. We will send out a sign-up sheet via an excel spreadsheet and KFD members will also be invited. We will do marketing via social media to promote the event to LECOM students. Our Club advisor Dr. Risavi, is on board with the event and will be in attendance. We will follow the current COVID mitigation plan as set by the school. The event will be Tuesday November 28th from 5:30-8:30pm, this includes set-up and clean up time by the E-Board members.

It would occur on Wednesday, October 1st from 6pm to 7pm at Presque Isle Beach 6. It will be open to all students, faculty, and staff. The instructor for the yoga class is Neeya Shetty. She is a current M2 with a RYT 200 yoga instructor certification. Students will be asked to bring their own yoga mat or beach towel for the class.

Queen Jr., MD, from Cleveland, Ohio. This event will be held on a Wednesday evening to introduce EM members on how to use an ultrasound effectively. At the event, Dr. Queen will give a presentation on the importance of high-quality ultrasound techniques, including a live demonstration. Following the presentation, members will have a hands-on opportunity to practice using ultrasound equipment themselves. This event will give our members the chance to interact with one another while being introduced to a valuable clinical skill. All ultrasound equipment for the interactive activity, as well as food served before the presentation, will be provided by Dr. Queen. An email with an Excel sign-up sheet will be sent to Emergency Medicine Club members, with a maximum of 25 students allowed to sign up. Students will adhere to all current regulations set by LECOM. Our club advisor, Dr. Risavi, has approved the event and will be in attendance. This event will be held on Wednesday, April 15th, in the OPP Lab from 6 pm to 8 pm.

There will be a presentation to discuss the importance of airway management, and to familiarize students with protocols and techniques. There will then be a hands-on learning opportunity for students to practice techniques. It will give our members the chance to interact with one another while learning valuable skills they will learn more about on rotations. All equipment for the interactive activity will be provided by Dr. Risavi. A sign-up sheet will be provided for students to participate with a maximum of 30 students allowed to sign-up. Students will adhere to current COVID Regulations set by LECOM. Our Club Advisor, Dr. Risavi, has approved of the event and will be in attendance. This event will be held on Saturday November 11th in Pharmacy Lecture Hall A and the OPP Lab from 8:00am – 4:00pm.

Following the presentation, students will have the opportunity to engage in a hands-on learning session where they will practice suturing on models designed to simulate human tissue. All suture kits and materials will be provided by the EM Club. This event is a great opportunity for members to gain early exposure to procedural skills they will encounter during clinical rotations, while working alongside peers in a low-pressure, educational environment. A sign-up sheet will be made available for students to register, with a maximum of 25 participants. Students will adhere to current COVID regulations set by LECOM. SafeNet provides support to people impacted by domestic violence. They need items such as welcome teddy bears for children, clothing, toiletries, etc. We will run a donation drive that allows members to donate to this critical organization and support the community. The drive involves students signing up on an excel spreadsheet for the items they would like to donate from October 1st- 13th. We would then provide a bin for the students to drop off their donations from October 16th- 20th. The donation bin will be left near the security office, and emptied as it fills to ensure enough space for donations to be left in the bin. For participating in the drive we will offer 1 service hour for every 2 items a student donates, with each student able to earn a maximum of 2 service hours. Students will be dropping off donations to the bin located in the LECOM building and therefore adhere to LECOM COVID mitigation policies. All correspondence for the event will be done through email and E-Board members will drop off the items to SafeNet at 1702 French Street in Erie once the drive is over. Community of Caring provides support to community members experiencing homelessness. They need items such as clothing, soap, toothbrushes, sanitary napkins, etc. We will run a donation drive that allows members to donate to this critical organization and support the community. The drive involves students signing up on an excel spreadsheet for the items they would like to donate from November 17th-24th. We would then provide a bin for the students to drop off their donations from November 27th – December 1st. The donation bin will be left near the security office, and emptied as it fills to ensure enough space for donations to be left in the bin. For participating in the drive we will offer 1 service hour for every 2 items a student donates, with each student able to earn a maximum of 2 service hours. Students will be dropping off donations to the bin located in the LECOM building and therefore adhere to LECOM COVID mitigation policies. All correspondence for the event will be done through email and E-Board members will drop off the items to the ‘Community of Caring’ organization afterwards. The Director of the Community of Caring organization, Maureen Dunn, would also like to speak to students over zoom on Thursday November 30th from 6-7pm about Community of Caring and how the donations will be used. This will give students insight into the local non-profit in case they would like to volunteer for them again in the future. Our Club advisor, Dr. Risavi, approves of the event.

Students will be dropping off donations to the bin located in the LECOM building and therefore adhere to LECOM COVID mitigation policies. All correspondence for the event will be done through email and E-Board members will drop off the items to the ‘Community of Caring’ organization afterwards. Our Club advisor, Dr. Risavi, approves of the event.
February 19, 2026 at 11:39 AMApprovedCPR Certification CourseEmergency Medicine02/19/202603/18/2026We would like to give our members the opportunity to participate in a CPR certification class run by Dr. Risavi. This event will be held on a Wednesday evening to train EM members on how to perform CPR with proper technique and efficacy. At the event, Dr. Risavi will give a presentation and show videos to discuss the importance of, and demonstrate, high-quality CPR. Then, there will be a hands-on learning opportunity for students to practice and be assessed on techniques. Upon successful completion of the course, Dr. Risavi will issue students a CPR license from the National CPR Foundation. It will give our members the chance to interact with one another while earning a valuable certification. All equipment and mannequins for the interactive activity will be provided by Dr. Risavi. An email with an Excel sign-up sheet will be sent to Emergency Medicine Club members, with a maximum of 25 students allowed to sign up. Students will adhere to all current regulations set by LECOM. Our club advisor, Dr. Risavi, has approved the event and will be in attendance. This event will be held on Wednesday, March 18th, in the OPP Lab from 6 pm to 8 pm.
