Ramadan is a sacred month for Muslims, during which they fast from dawn to sunset for 30 days. Iftaar is the meal with which we break our fast at sunset, and this event will provide an opportunity for AMMSA members to come together, take a mental break from studying, and share a meaningful meal in a supportive community setting. To facilitate this event, we kindly request to reserve the East Hall and one classroom. We will be hosting this dinner potluck style; therefore, food will be provided by the attendees. Additionally, all cleanup responsibilities will be handled by our board members. We will bring extra trash bags and ensure the space is left in the same condition as we found it. We recently hosted a similar event on Friday, March 7th, which ran smoothly. Given our experience, we anticipate this event will be just as successful. September 20, 2022 at 6:12 AMApprovedStudent Voter Registration & Voting As A Medical StudentSNMA09/20/202209/30/2022We would like to host a voter registration for medical students and faculty to register to vote. The voter registration would take place from September 30th, October 3rd & October 4th during lunch in the cafeteria (we can also move it to another week) and we would like to host an event for students called, "Voting As a Medical Student." via Zoom on October 19th at 6PM. Medical students and medical professionals are expected to be leaders in their communities. Civic engagement is part of leadership. SNMA has partnered with an organization called Vot-ER, founded by an emergency physician at Mass General Hospital. They focus on creating a stronger healthcare system by empowering patients, healthcare providers, and health professional students to vote. This work is particularly important given the impact of COVID. They have created a badge backer that makes it easy to have a person register to vote on their own phone or request a mail-in ballot to vote at home this election cycle. The platform walks them through either process in 90 seconds or less. Now, as ever, civic engagement is crucial to protecting and improving the health of the patients and communities we serve. Vot-ER is a strictly nonprofit, nonpartisan organization. And it is the individual who chooses to engage and does so on their own device. We simply aim to provide the tools for individuals to be engaged with the system and have a chance to make their voice heard on issues that matter to them. Statement of political neutrality/how we can ensure nonpartisanship: Vot-ER is a strictly nonprofit, nonpartisan organization. And it is the individual who chooses to engage and to do so on their own device. We simply aim to provide the tools for individuals to be engaged with the system and have a chance to make their voice heard on issues that matter to them.
